Girls in Old Gold joins the FSA as an affiliate member

We are buzzing to announce that Girls in Old Gold have joined the FSA

Girls in Old Gold started for a simple reason.
Women and girls who support Wolves deserve a space that feels welcoming, safe, and proud.

So here’s some news we’re genuinely buzzing to share.

Girls in Old Gold have joined the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) as an affiliate member.
You can check out the FSA here: https://thefsa.org.uk

This matters. Not because it sounds fancy, but because it helps us do more of what we are here to do.

Quick bit first: what’s the FSA?

The Football Supporters’ Association is the national body that represents football fans in England and Wales.

They back supporters. They support fan groups. And they help fans speak up on the stuff that affects matchdays, like:

  • fan experience and safety
  • fair treatment of supporters
  • equality and inclusion
  • making sure fan voices don’t get ignored

Basically, they are in the corner of supporters, not the other way around.

What does “affiliate member” mean for us?

It means Girls in Old Gold is now connected to a bigger network of supporter groups across the country.

We stay independent. We stay Wolves. We stay female focused.

But we get:

  • stronger support behind the scenes
  • better links with other fan groups
  • more ways to raise issues that matter to women and girls
  • more chances to learn, share, and push for better in the game

Why we’ve done it

Because women’s experiences on matchdays are real

Most women who go home and away have felt it at some point.

The comments. The looks. The “are you here with your boyfriend?” stuff. The online nonsense. The extra planning just to feel safe.

We love Wolves. That should be the main thing. Not all the extra baggage that comes with simply turning up.

Sometimes you just want to know you’re not the only one.
Sometimes you want a space where you can enjoy the football and not have to be on guard.

Girls in Old Gold is about community. The FSA link helps us strengthen that.

Because being heard is easier when you’re connected

One voice can get brushed off. A lot of voices, organised, are harder to ignore.

Affiliate membership gives us a clearer route to share concerns, ideas, and feedback. It also helps us do it the right way.

What happens next?

We want to grow a group that:

  • brings women and girls together around Wolves
  • helps fans feel more confident going to games
  • supports each other on matchdays and away days
  • speaks up when something needs changing

This FSA step is part of that. It helps us build something that lasts.
